2019 – 2020 Season

We have three more exciting shows this season!

January 29 – February 2, 2020

Written by Ira Levin
Directed by Ashley Trotnic

A comedic thriller, Deathtrap is about a washed-up playwright who finds a chance to rise to the top once more, a shot he’d be willing to kill for. Sidney Bruhl hasn’t written a hit play for 18 years when he receives a script from a former student, Clifford Anderson, that’s a guaranteed success. Sidney’s wife, Myra, suggests the two men could collaborate. Sidney jokes that it’d be just as easy to murder the young man and steal the script for his own. When Clifford arrives later that evening, no one – not even the visiting psychic – could predict where the dark events of the night will go. Who is innocent? Who only seems that way? Deathrap is a sharply funny play, full of twists and turns that keep an audience on the edge of their seats. It holds the record for the longest running comedy/thriller on Broadway and was nominated for four Tony Awards. The subsequent 1982 movie starred Christopher Reeve, Michael Caine and Dyan Cannon.

Our cast consists of Greg Green, Lisa Green, Sam Hydar, Rhonda Palmer, and Phillip Butler, all stage veterans. This play contains no offensive material, but may not be particularly interesting to young children.

March 25 – 29, 2020

Written by Joseph Stein
Directed by Lisa Green

A farce in two acts, it is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Carl Reiner. The action centers on the journey of young aspiring actor David Kolowitz as he tries to extricate himself from overly protective parents (who want him to be a married pharmacist) and two too many girlfriends, while struggling to meet the challenge of his lack of talent in 1930s New York City.

The Broadway production opened on March 13, 1963, and ran for over a year. It marked the Broadway directorial debut of Gene Saks. The cast included Alan Arkin, Vivian Blaine, Sylvia Sidney, Michael J. Pollard, and Alan Mowbray. Arkin won a Tony for his performance.

Auditions will be held Monday & Tuesday, February 3 – 4, 2020 at 7 pm at JLT.
Needed are 4 women, 7 men ages 20s-60s Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

May 27 – 31, 2020

Written by Frank Wildhorn
Lyrics by Don Black
Book by Ivan Menchell
Directed by Becki Arnall

Bonnie & Clyde, The Musical centers on Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, the ill-fated lovers and outlaws whose story has been infamous since they achieved folk hero status during the Great Depression. Wildhorn described the music as a “non-traditional score, combining rockabilly, blues and gospel music.”

The musical was nominated for 3 Outer Critics Circle Awards and 5 Drama Desk Awards, both including Best New Musical, as well as two nominations for the 2012 Tony Awards.
