Carrie the Musical

Audition Information:

• Aug 17th and 18th at 7PM (Callbacks on Aug 19th at 7:00PM)
• 17th – Singing and cold reads
• 18th – Begin with Dance Call, then continue singing, cold reads

What Should I Prepare?

1-minute of a song that shows your vocal range (a cappella or digital track)

Character Breakdown:

• Carrie White – Female, Age: 18, Vocal Range: A3 – E5
  The protagonist, Carrie is a shy and awkward high school student who discovers her telekinetic powers. She faces severe bullying from her classmates and struggles with her oppressive relationship with her religiously fanatic mother.
• Margret White – Female, Age: 40s-50s, Vocal range: C4 – E5
  Carrie’s mother, a deeply religious and controlling woman whose fanaticism leads to a toxic relationship with Carrie. She believes that her strict upbringing is for Carrie’s own good, but it ultimately drives Carrie to despair.
• Miss Gardner – Female, Age: 30s-50s, Vocal Range: A3 – B4
  The gym teacher who shows compassion towards Carrie and tries to protect her from bullying.
• Sue Snell – Female, Age:18, Vocal Range: A3 -E5
  A classmate of Carrie who initially participates in the bullying but later feels remorseful. She tries to help Carrie by inviting her to the prom, hoping to make amends for her past behavior.
• Chris Hargensen – Female, Age: 18, Vocal Range: A3- E5
  The main antagonist, Chris, is one of Carrie’s most vicious bullies. She orchestrates the cruel prank at the prom.
• Tommy Ross – Male. Age: 18, Vocal Range: B2 – C5
  Sue’s boyfriend, kind-hearted, he is popular, but isn’t sure he wants to follow the path set out for him
• Billy Nolan – Male, Age: 19, Vocal Range: B2 – C5
  Chris’s boyfriend, who is equally cruel and participates in the bullying. He encourages Chris’s malicious plans against Carrie. (Special Skills: Skateboarding)
• Mr. Stephens/ Reverend Bliss – Male, Age: 30s-50s, Vocal Range: G2-E4
  Teacher at the school, is often oblivious to the bullying Carrie faces
• Frieda – Female, Age: 18, Vocal Range: A3 – E5
  Classmate and friend of Chris and Sue, participates in bullying Carrie
• Helen – Female, Age: 18, Vocal Range: A3 – E5
  Classmate and friend of Chris and Sue, participates in bullying Carrie
